Domain 260 Carbon Frame
All-carbon 260 mm frame for a 5-inch 6S build. No printed parts. A 4 mm woven carbon bottom plate, a 2 mm carbon top plate, radio deck, GPS plate and a tab-and-slot camera cage. Same hole pattern as every Domain 260 airframe, validated by finite element analysis before release.
Key figures
- 152 g complete frame
- 260 mm wheelbase, 5 in props, 6S, 850 g design all-up weight
- Safety factor 8.66 at full throttle, 1.36 mm arm tip flex
- Top-mounted battery, 20 mm strap slots
- Camera cage for ModalAI M0161 and M0149, or 19 / 22 mm FPV cameras
Built for
- Flight test and structural test articles: drop and flex testing with nothing but carbon in the load path
- Development benches where the stack changes weekly and access matters more than enclosure
- Minimum-mass builds in benign environments
What is in the kit
| Part | Size | Mass |
|---|---|---|
| Bottom plate, 4 mm | 214.6 x 213.0 mm | 105.2 g |
| Top plate, 2 mm | 57 x 210 mm | 25.4 g |
| Radio deck | 48 x 51 mm | 6.8 g |
| Camera foot | 42 x 26 mm | 2.8 g |
| Camera side plates (2) | 32 x 32 mm | 5.2 g |
| Camera divider | 32 x 32 mm | 2.7 g |
| Camera bar A, M0161 | 24.3 x 24 mm | 1.4 g |
| Camera bar B, M0149 | 14.7 x 14 mm | 0.5 g |
| GPS plate | 28 x 28 mm | 2.4 g |
| Standoffs and hardware | M3, nyloc | |
| Total carbon | 152.4 g |
Bottom plate design
One triangle truss per arm: two edge chords and a wide diagonal. The diagonal is what keeps side-hit strength. 12 pockets, R3.2 mm inside corners.
Specifications
| Material | Woven carbon fiber, 4 mm bottom plate, 2 mm top plate and brackets. Weave at 45 degrees so fibers run along the arms. |
|---|---|
| Motor mount | Dual pattern 16 x 16 and 19 mm, M3 |
| Stack mount | 4x M3 at ±21, ±33 mm |
| Hardware | Screws and nyloc nuts. No heat-set inserts. |
| Edges | Chamfered and sealed |
| Weather protection | None. Open frame. For enclosed electronics see the Carbon Frame with Printed Shell. |
Structural analysis
Same loads, method and 850 g design all-up weight as the printed airframe. Material values are typical published woven carbon numbers with 25 percent removed for margin. Safety factor above 1.0 passes.
| Load case (concrete) | Safety factor | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Hover | 73 | Pass |
| Full throttle, worst case | 8.66 | Pass, 1.36 mm tip flex |
| Flat drop onto belly, 0.5 m | 1.99 | Pass |
| Flat drop onto belly, 1 m | 1.41 | Pass |
| Corner drop onto a motor, 0.5 m | 1.22 | Pass |
| Corner drop onto a motor, 1 m | 0.87 | May crack |
| Side hit on a motor, 0.5 m | 0.83 | May crack |
Lowest frame modes 84 and 97 Hz, well clear of the 190 Hz prop frequency at hover. Run the RPM filter. Hard crashes onto a motor on concrete are the limit for any 4 mm plate; TPU bumpers under the motor pads take that hit.
Build notes
- Radio is strap-mounted to its deck. A bolt pattern can be added once the radio is fixed.
- Radxa holes assume the Pi Zero 58 x 23 mm pattern, slotted. Confirm your board before ordering.

- Domain 260 Carbon Frame with Printed Shell: the same bottom plate under a 3 mm carbon top plate and the full printed shell, for enclosed electronics.
- Domain 260 Printed Airframe: PA12-CF unibody with the printed shell.
